Cleopatra’s Beauty Secrets Pt. 2

We continue to examine the beauty regimens of one of the most celebrated beauty icons of history. In our first portion of the three part series, we saw how Cleopatra loved to use milk as a moisturizer (check it out here in case you missed it). Today, we will look at how she incorporated sea salt into her beauty routine.

Sea Salt As An Exfoliant
Just as it was necessary to keep her skin glowing, she had to keep it soft. Sea salts were used as a regular part of her beauty routine in order to remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate the skin. What’s so great about sea salts is that they contain magnesium sulfate which is what helps take out toxins from our bodies.  In addition to using sea salts, Cleopatra incorporated a loofah in her body scrubs. Loofahs are excellent for generating new skin cells and activating blood circulation throughout the body.

Sea Salt Scrub

Ingredients Needed:

  • ½ cup of fine sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of almond oil

Preparation:
Mix the three ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply the scrub all over the body. Massage the scrub in a circular motion for 20-30 seconds in each area. Remove the scrub after three minutes. Recommended once a week.
