Reader Question: What Is The Best Wig?

Hello Alia,

I have been losing my hair every since I was a teenager and I am feed up with buying products that promise results and I end up with nothing. I am looking to get a wig that will hide my hair loss but don't know what to get. Can you help?

Yasmeen M.

Hi Yasmeen,

I am so sorry to hear about your hair loss since it can take a toll on anyone, whether it be a male or female. Remember that you are not alone and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Wigs are a great way to hide any hair loss and they sure have come a long way with today's technology. Many stars like Tyra Banks, Beyonce, and Katy Perry have all dabbled in a variety of different wigs. The best wigs are those that are made with 100% virgin human hair. Virgin means that it has not be processed or dyed. It will be super soft and is authentic hair since it is real human hair. Indian and Malaysian hair tend to be the best on the market and they usually are abundant as well.

Next make sure that the wig is a full lace wig. Full lace means that the hair looks as though it is growing out of your scalp. It looks so natural if the wig is full lace and the hair is 100% virgin human hair. These types of wigs tend to be expensive, but if you can afford it, it is worth the investment!

If you can't, there are great alternatives! The next best thing to 100% virgin human hair is Kanekalon Fiber. The Kanekalon Fiber is a modacrylic fiber composed of a combination of two monomers. It was first used in Japanese wigs and it is the best fiber for synthetic wigs. Find a synthetic wig uses 100% Kanekalon fiber and is a half lace wig. This will give you the illusion that the hair is coming from the front of your scalp. It is the best alternative on the market and it is affordable for every budget!

If you do have a hard time figuring out how to apply your wig for the first time, I do suggest you consult an expert in order to learn how to wear it properly. Good luck Yasmeen and I hope you find what you are looking for!

XOXO
